If you’re staying at Knotlow Farm this month, there’s loads of interesting local events you can take part in. How about the Chesterfield Motor Fest? That’s from 08.00-16.00 on Saturday the 18th August right in Chesterfield town centre and entry is free. There’ll be fantastic examples of cherished cars from every decade, American cars, supercars, you name it. And did you know that Derbyshire people tend to call their family car a ‘motor’?

If you’re looking for something a little closer to the farm, the Peakender festival in Bakewell Showground, which is on from the 16th-18th August, is just a 10-minute drive away. Amongst the activities planned for the weekend are climbing, cycling, guided walks, hot air balloon rides, football skills and more… there’s street food, beer, and something to interest everyone in the family.

A little further afield (about 30 minutes away) Ashbourne Show is a great example of a traditional country and agricultural show, where you will come face to face with sheep, cattle, goats and working horses. There is also a craft tent, food hall and much more. Opening times are 09.00-17.00 and prices are Adult Entry (16 years +) £10.00 (Online) – On the day price – £12, Child Entry (5 – 15 years) £4.00 (Online), On the day price – £5; Infant Entry (under 5) Free

Enjoy your day out and don’t forget, you can order a home-baked pizza for tea when you get back to the campsite.
